On July 5, 1850, armies led by General David Homer of the Confederation of North America and Francisco Hernandez of the United States of Mexico fought at the Battle of San Fernando, one of the major battles of the Rocky Mountain War. The battle would continue for the next two days.
On July 5, 1899, during the Great Northern War, a force of Mexican marines landed at the Alaskan city of Nikolaevsk and began marching south towards a Russian army led by General Mikhail Kornilov.
